The advantages of making Pour-Over coffee are endless! As a self-proclaimed coffee connoisseur, my favourite coffee trend to date is pour-over coffee. Unlike popular belief, the pour-over coffee making technique has been around forever. Dating back to 1908, German housewife, Melitta Bentz, made the first two-part filtration coffee system, by inventing the original Pour-Over. The pour-over process is divided into three stages: warming the water, prepping the beans and pouring into the cup.

4 Advantages of Making Pour-Over Coffee At Home

Affordable and Stylish

An advantage of making pour-over coffee is that flavourful coffee doesn’t cost a fortune. As long as you invest in quality coffee beans, leave the rest to your inexpensive pour over coffeemaker. You may recall I got the Melitta Signature Series Pour-Over™ Coffeemaker in white porcelain last year. This time around I couldn’t resist this pastel pink colour of the Heritage Series Pour-Over™ Coffeemaker. This coffeemaker is also a porcelain brew, but it comes with a serve carafe (20oz), which makes the whole process more practical.

It’s Eco-Friendly

I love using products that value the importance of protecting our environment and pour-over coffee is environmentally friendly.  With my pour-over brew, I use the Melitta Bamboo Cone Coffee Filters. These premium coffee filters are naturally 100% compostable, reducing landfill waste. What I love about these filters is they have microfine Flavor Enhancing® perforations which allow the full coffee flavour to filter through making each cup of coffee fragrant and delicious.

Custom Made Coffee

With the pour-over method, you are the one controlling the making process which means you get to brew coffee to your exact liking. I recommend you experiment making pour-over coffee at home. For example, alter the amount of beans you use and your coffee to water ratio, try different temperatures of water, or change the speed of your pour. These simple elements are significant in making the perfect our-over coffee. Want to learn more about perfecting your cup of coffee? Check out these helpful tips.

Delicious Flavour

Tasting coffee grounds in your coffee is sacrilege. When Melitta Bentz invented the pour-over coffee system, she had one aim; to drink good quality coffee. I love using my Melitta Heritage pour-over brew because it preserves the flavour of the coffee. So why does the coffee taste so good, and has a rich flavour? It is because the coffee grounds sit in the bamboo filter and never come into contact with the finished brew. This is a great advantage of making pour-over coffee. Now you can make the perfect cup of coffee from the comfort of your own home.  Get 15% off your purchase of Melitta products here  using my promo code Eleni15%!
