The steps to beat the afternoon  slump are much easier than you think. If you pay attention, you will notice that 3pm is usually the time of day where you have the least amount of energy and start feeling fatigued. This is what I call the afternoon slump. When your energy levels drop, so does your productivity. Below are 3 quick steps to beat the afternoon slump:

Take a Break

The first step to beating the afternoon slump is to take a break. Even for 10 minutes, it is important to step away from your work space and take some time to yourself. For me, changing the scenery by going out for a quick walk or even situating myself in another area of the house makes a huge difference to beating the afternoon slump. This is a simple, yet effective way to boost my energy and stay productive without feeling exhausted by end of day. Stepping away from your desk is also a great way to clear your head and see a project with a fresh perspective.

Disconnect From Electronic Devices. Do Something Fun.

When I take my break I also stop using my electronic devises. I move away from my computer screen, I put my cell phone away, and I completely disconnect from the social media world.  Staring at your computer screen all day without a break, does not only cause eye strain, but it also creates mental exhaustion. During my take10 break, I like to do something fun to unwind and stimulate my senses in other ways. My favourite activity to unwind are colouring books because it is carefree and doesn’t require much thought to colour. It is also a great way to get my creativity going. Another activity you can try is to take 10 minutes to do your nails, or refresh your skin with a face mask if you are working from home.

Fuel Your Body

I have noticed in the afternoon, my body confuses dehydration with hunger. Fueling your body with liquids does not only fight off the afternoon slump, but it also helps to stay focused. When I feel like the afternoon slump is around the corner, I indulge in a glass of the low calorie beverage SunRype Slim to recharge. I recently grabbed the SunRype Slim beverage from the non-refrigerated juice aisle at my local grocery store, and I am obsessed. This beverage is not only refreshing, but it is also as flavourful as it gets. Usually, low calorie beverages lack in flavour, but at only 10 calories per serving (250ml), SunRype Slim tastes amazing. This beverage has no artificial flavours or colours, and most importantly no aspartame.

When I am not working, I also use SunRype Slim beverages to create cocktails for my friends. My favourite flavours, especially now that spring is here, are the Slim Blueberry Burst (a refreshing blend of blueberry and pomegranate), Slim Lemon Drop Lemonade, and SlimCranberry Twist (a delicious blend of cranberry and pomegranate). Whether you want to make a sangria or a refreshing mojito for those warm patio days, SunRype Slim is the perfect beverage.

Giving yourself a moment to step away from your work to recharge, does not only minimize your stress levels, but also prevents having future burnouts. If your workday is impacted by the afternoon slump, like mine usually is, have a refreshing glass of SunRype Slim. The steps to beat the afternoon slump in are super easy. Just remember to take a moment for yourself.

I love the Cranberry flavour! I always feel tired around that time of the day so I'm going to try it to give me the boost I need. The Lemonade is on my list, as well. I have to try it!
