Clean Eating For Beginners – Why I am Clean Eating
For over a year,I have been going back and forth between an allergist, a dermatologist and family doctor. I have been living Groundhog day! In the meantime I gained weight, I am always bloated and faced with stomach pains after meals, feeling fatigued, dizzy and off balance all the time. I feel defeated. With doctors not giving me a solution, I decided it was time to take matters into my own hands.
Why I decided to Work With a Nutritionist
Clean eating for beginners can be quite overwhelming. I decided to work with Tracy Houle is a Certified Holistic Nutritional Consultant, Culinary Nutrition Expert and soon-to-be Functional Nutritionist to get started the right way. I never met Tracy in person, but she sounded lovely when I chatted with her over the phone. During the call, I was honest about my eating habits; eating out every day, carbs, tons of sushi, more carbs. I felt no judgment about my poor eating habits which was comforting. Tracy asked questions around meal planning, what I love/hate to eat, time I want to devote on cooking, health concerns etc. After a 20 minute phone call Tracy said she would tailor the meal plan according to our discussion.
My Personalized 7-Day Meal Plan
Every week Tracy emails me a custom 7 day clean eating meal plan (PDF file) that includes the following: recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, and grocery list divided into sections by category of product. Tracy is a big believer of clean eating so her recipes do not have gluten, dairy, processed sugar or oils (she does use healthy oils like coconut/avocado oil etc.) The clean eating meal plans are customized to my food preferences/needs and are designed so that I can eat yesterday’s dinner for next day’s lunch. I do love sweets so Tracy adds snacks too. Clean eating for beginners can be super fun when you have an expert working with you.
In-Home Cook Option for Clean Eating Beginners
I don’t always have time to prep my meals. With the 1st week of November being very busy I decided to try another service Tracy Houle offers and that is to have the in-home cook prepare all of my meals for the week. The only thing I had to worry about was to purchase the ingredients before the cook arrived at my house. While I was attending a blogging event, the cook was in my kitchen back home cooking my meals for the week. The cook was at my house for about 5 hours and when I returned home all of my meals were labelled and stored in the fridge for the week. I loved how clean my kitchen was when I returned home. The in-home cook is a great option for young professionals always on the go, for busy families needing an extra hand with meal prepping at an affordable price, but also for clean eating beginners like me that just need help.
My Motivation to Eat Clean
It is so important to listen to your body when it needs helps. Life has become less stressful now that I have a set meal plan. Tracy has helped tremendously to put my health back on track and has given me a great guide to clean eating for beginners. Following Tracy’s holistic advice, my aim is to eat mindfully and create better eating habits like not eating in front of the TV.
I highly recommend working with Tracy if you face dietary and/or nutritional issues or even try out her clean eating meal plans for a healthier diet. It is never too late to learn more about your body and what it needs.
