Culottes are the perfect alternative to jeans and creating a polished look that will take you from day to night. Styling culottes can be a bit tricky. Some styles can be quite unflattering when you wear them, but with the right styling you can pull off the perfect look. Below I have outlined some guidelines how to style your pretty culottes.
Choosing the Best Pair of Shoes
Show off the slimmest part of your ankle by wearing a cute pair of heels or strap sandals. Heels will also elongate your legs. If you opt for flats, I recommend a pointy heel flat. If you decide to wear shooties or booties, just make sure you are showing off a little bit of your leg between the top of the boot and the bottom of the culottes leg.
Find the right fit
Just because the culottes are loose it doesn’t mean that they do not have to be the right fit. If the culottes are the right fit the waistband should be hugging you either at your waist or hips. They should also fit loosely through the thigh and ankle depending on design. There is always the choice to tailor your pants to fit perfectly but honestly, I think with the right amount of research you can find the perfect fit without having to use your budget on paying for a tailor.
Pair it With The perfect top
When wearing wide leg culottes, I recommend pairing them with form fitting tops. I paired my wide-legged culottes with a fitted top for a more polished look. For a breezy fall day I recommend adding a tailored blazer, or a short cardi that falls just before where the waistband of the culottes begins. You can definitely pair them with a slouchy sweater or a boyfriend blazer, but if you want to emphasize your waist, and create a classy look opt for a tailored top and jacket.
Tuck Your Top In
I love tucking my top in my culottes and I definitely recommend you do too. Keeping your top tucked in makes your ensemble look more put together and the best way to flatter your figure.
