Taken? Single? Not even looking? When it comes to friendship you do not need to be in a relationship to celebrate the amazing support and love you receive from your friends. No doubt, Valentine’s Day comes with mixed emotions, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Although it is closely defined by romantic love, valentine’s day is in fact a wonderful excuse to celebrate the love you have for all your loved ones. From parents to your boyfriend to your besties that are always there for you. Celebrating love has no relationship status.
It is important to always take a step back and show your friends how grateful you are to have them, so I thought this year I would do something special for two of my girlfriends. The one is an old friend circa highschool while the other is a new friend that I have come to love and adore just as much. I invited these beautiful ladies to celebrate our very own Galentine’s Day; chit chat, eat yummy treats, and cheers to love. What was supposed to be a casual brunch turned to a fancy glittery brunch. And why not?
Honestly though this day wouldn’t be possible without HomeSense. HomeSense is my second home because HomeSense just gets me.All my home supplies needs are always satisfied by a trip to HomeSense (especially since I can take Margot with me!Hooray for pet friendly shops). So when I decided to host the perfect Galantine’s Day Brunch for my girlfriends I turned to HomeSense for all the goodies. So how do you host the perfect Galentine’s Day Brunch?
Decor
Details are important for any party. Without Valentine’s decorations though, your brunch will be just a brunch. To pull off the Galentine’s theme brunch I picked up tons of decor supplies. I didn’t want to go overboard with heart related details, so I went for a variety of classy items with a mix of Valentine Day items. From plates to tassels, to napkins the possibilities are endless regardless which direction you decide to take. First, you have to think about your colour palette. As I mentioned earlier, I wanted a classy Galentine’s Day Brunch, so I went with the colour theme of pink, red and gold with white details. Here are some essentials you will need for the decor.
1.Tassel garland
2.Paper Fans
3.Valentine’s cards
4.Valentine’s Day related items like chocolates, I love the mini glass cake stand and how I placed the rose inside. It reminded me of “Beauty and The Beast” which was a fun little detail.
5.Red or gold related dishware with the right amount of heart related items
6.Classy flutes or Valentine’s Day coffee mugs like mine
7.I love adding gold/bronze accessories like the cutlery I picked
8.Table Place-mats
9.Flower arrangement as a centerpiece for your dining table. I went for pink and red but you can definitely add some white in there too.
Photobooth Essentials
Gold Metallic Fringe Curtain to be used as a backdrop
Valentine’s day themed pillows
Cute stools
Props
Remember to just have fun!
Food
Keep food simple and mess free. I opted for waffles, and a fruit platter. We had coffee and fresh squeezed juice, but it doesn’t hurt to add a bit of bubbly in there. Of course cake was also a must. I picked up a custom order cake from Joni and Cake who I had actually met last year at the National Wedding show. I loved the designs of her cakes so I knew immediately that I wanted her to bake a cake for our brunch. After all, a party without a cake is just a meeting. But seriously, can we pause and talk about the cake? It was as delicious as it looked.
Gifts from the Hostess
The perfect hostess knows how to treat her guests, so I put together the cutest little gift for my girlfriends as a token of love. What I included: A stylish notebook, Kate Spade inspired fold-back clips, and a candle with the most amazing scent I have ever smelt.
So there you have it. My guide to the perfect Galentine’s Brunch. I loved putting everything together and spending time with the girls for our very own Galentine’s celebration. Have you ever hosted a fun day like this for your girlfriends?
All items used in this post are from HomeSense except the food, dining table furniture and “Eat” sign. Even though I partnered up with HomeSense on this project, all opinions are my own because let’s face it I’ve been a HomeSense lover since 2004.
Thank you to HomeSense for sponsoring this post. All opinions and creative direction is my own.
