Paradise Bound – Agali Houses in Santorini

Santorini - Agali Houses View

I have been to many places, and sure there are many more I have not seen, but Santorini, oh my beautiful Santorini. Serenades my heart. Saying it is picturesque, is just not sufficient. In 10 years I managed to visit Santorini 3 times. This year marked my 3rd, but it was definitely not the last time you found me on this island. No doubt I will return. Today, I wanted to share where we stayed in Santorini. More posts will ensue about the island itself…Have no fear.

The search for the perfect accommodation was torturous. Santorini has ample of choices when it comes to accommodations, as our driver said there are over 600 places to choose from where to stay. Nevertheless, when it comes to quality, the choices are semi limited and you need to act fast or the ship has sailed. We started looking for hotels end of April and soon we found out that if you want an awe capturing hotel in Santorini you better book at least 6 months to a year in advance.

There was a lot of going back and forth. Some of the hotels that were up to our standards were $1000 a night. I don’t know about you, but that price wasn’t going to fly with my bank account for a 2 week vacay. After many sleepless nights I found the perfect hotel. Agali Houses. We booked directly through their site because compared to sites like hotels.com and expedia.com they were offering better pricing. Agali Houses is located in the heart of the cutest village, Firostefani.

Because I’ve been to Santorini 3 times I know the island like the back of my hand.  I knew this was a great location to be in, even though a 15 minute walk from Thira (main town). I mean, if you’ve been to Santorini you know that walking along the beautiful caldera is anything, but dreadful. I will stop at any given time to admire the Aegean sea.

We got the junior suite with a hot tub and the most beautiful panoramic view of life. I am always skeptical about hotels because they are either a hit or a miss. Agali Houses exceeded by far our expectations. The room had the most breathtaking panoramic view of life, the staff was extremely friendly and always willing to help with any questions we had, the breakfast was delicious and also complimentary with your stay and the grounds of the hotel made you not to ever want to leave. I am not going to lie, Kamiran and I are picky travelers when it comes to our accommodations. We want to feel right at home away from home, and Agali Houses was just that. Cozy, comfortable and beautiful.

Our heated outdoor hot tub though! Had so many relaxing days and nights
looking over this spectacular view. Also loved that we had our own terrace and were able to enjoy our coffee overlooking the sea.

What I loved the most about our suite was that we didn’t even have to leave our room to see the beautiful sunset. The most breathtaking view of the Aegean sea, the volcano, the caldera and the beautiful rock of Skaros, honestly you can’t go wrong with Agali Houses. In fact, we didn’t even make it to Oia during our stay. Simply sat at the bench of our terrace, had a little bit of local Vinsanto wine and enjoyed the mesmerizing view.

I mean, this sunset never gets old.
