Transitioning your summer style to Fall can be quite frustrating but it doesn't have to be. With the right hacks you can master the art of transitioning your summer wardrobe into the cozy weather of fall without the headache. Do not ditch your summer clothes just yet. It is called transitioning into fall for a reason. Mix and match! Below you can read 6 simple tips of how you can transition your summer style to fall that are always my go to to making a flawless transition.

Keep Your Maxi Dresses

Maxi dresses are here to stay. Maxi dresses are actually the last thing I eliminate from my summer wardrobe when I am transitioning into fall. The maxi dress gives a great balance to your style when the weather fluctuates between warm and cold. All you have to do when it gets a little colder is throw on a cozy cardigan or a leather jacket or even a blazer if you are at work. I love the one I am wearing from SheIn because of its beautiful floral print and also the amazing affordable price of  $18 (Shop the dress by clicking here)

Layer It Up

Want to make your summer outfit functional for Fall? Layer it! I love layering because it allows you to create new ensembles. Summer can get a bit boring because your layering options are limited when the weather is hot, but come September you are exposed to wearing the same outfit over and over again but with different layering options. Layering your maxi dress for example is what makes it appropriate for fall, and there are some great choices out there right now that will help you put together the perfect Fall outfit.

Add Darker/Deeper Hues

Although I like to maintain colour in my life during fall and winter I do introduce colours to my wardrobe that are more earthy as fall enters into my everyday style. For example this maxi dress is perfect because the colours are bright yet the deep navy hue balances out the print to make it more appropriate for fall. Although other fashion blogs will tell you to put your neon brights away, I actually do not. I love wearing a hot pink top with an earthy toned cardigan on top. I say keep your neons just be smart with layering. If you continue to wear tops with bright colours you can add fall hues to the rest of your outfit like shoes, purse etc.

Add Tights or Skip them all together

When it comes to tight when you are transitioning to fall you have two choices. You either choose to wear them or you choose not to wear them. Usually I have two sets of rules for deciding which route I take. Usually, I add tights to dresses that look very summery, like a fun colorful pattern or design. By adding tights I create a good balance between my summer clothes and my fall look. In this case you would choose opaque tights. So when do you decide to not wear tights with your dress or skirt? When the material of the dress or skirt are thicker and more appropriate for fall I do not wear tights. The aim when you are transitioning your wardrobe to fall from summer is to create an outfit with the perfect balance of both summer and fall items.

These Sandals Were Meant for Walking

I love pairing fall pieces with sandals. It is the best way to have a smooth transition into fall and without going overboard with fall pieces when the weather is still warm. Pair a cozy sweater with jeans and a pair of sandals, or pair your maxi dress with sandals and layer it with a sweater to create the perfect transition to a fall look.

Keep your Wicker Basket Bag

Magazine articles will tell you that wicker basket bags have no place in your fall wardrobe, but I actually love pairing my earthy cozy fall outfits with my wicker bags. I say while the weather is still in warm zone keep the wicker basket bags. Also, if you have a cross-body straw bag even better! I find these are the perfect accessory for a fall outfit.

Make your own Rules

Honestly, there is no right way to transition to fall but I think these are some starter points you can start with in order to come up with your own transitioning routine. I always say wear what makes you feel comfortable and is weather appropriate.

Being an organized traveler is the most important skills you need to ensure you have an easy going vacation. First thing you do when you board the plane is to put your carry on away. You take your seat, the seat belt light comes on, and you realize your precious iPad is in your carry on. But what about your headphones? Ah, in your carry on too. Fine you will have to wait till the seat belt light turns off, but then you will have to search through your entire carry on to look for your headphones. Simplifying your life but packing the right things in your travel tote while traveling is the best thing you can do. After our trip to London a couple of weeks ago, I thought I would share what is always in my travel tote, and what my in-flight essentials are.

Before I get into details about my must have in flight items and what is inside my travel tote, let's talk about the tote itself. If you are traveling I recommend you invest in a tote that is sturdy and can handle the weight of the items you intend on placing inside your tote. I recently got the St. Anne Monogram Tote from Barrington gifts (c/o)  and I am absolutely in love with it. My intention was to mostly use it for my travels seeing it is the perfect size, but I have actually been using it in my everyday life as well (going to work, brunch, running errands). The travel tote l has plenty of pockets to fit all kinds of travel and life essentials. My favourite thing about the tote though is that being able to deboss your initials. I mean, how cute is that? I am a sucker for monogrammed items, and I am so happy to have monogrammed item in my bag collection.

What's in my Travel Tote - In flight Essentials You Need to Pack!

1 | Travel Wallet and Passport

The St. Anne tote is perfect for travel and everyday use because unlike similar totes it actually has 3 separate pockets aligned inside the back of the bag, plus your typical zipper pocket. In one of the pockets I place all of my in flight documents (passport, custom forms, boarding pass) since I like having everything in one place. The other item you will find in my in flight essentials is my travel wallet.  For my travels I always use my LV Zippy Wallet. It has tons of compartments but it is too big for me to carry around in my everyday life. I find it the perfect size for travels though.

2 | My "Express Makeup Bag"

I call this makeup bag my express makeup bag because it has in it the absolute makeup essentials, in case my suitcase gets left behind. In my actual suitcase I have the rest of my makeup products which are secondary beauty products I use like toner, facial wash, night masks, face scrub etc. My life would not be over without me if my suitcase gets misplaced. I will be sharing in another post all the beauty products that make the cut for my express makeup bag while traveling.

3 | Wet Naps

Regardless if I am traveling or not, my tote always has wet naps in it. Traveling comes with a lot of germs, so I like having the wet naps with me to either wipe things or wipe my hands.

4 | Sunglasses

I always keep a pair of sunglasses in my travel tote. Most of the flights I take land early in the morning, so sunglasses are a must to protect my eyes from the binding sun. Especially when traveling to sunny Greece or tropical Caribbean. Having quick access to your pair of sunnies is a life saver.

5 | Something to Read  (Magazine/ Kindle/Book)

Honestly, I always pack a magazine in my travel tote, but for some reason I never get to read it. I usually fall asleep before reading it, but I think it is handy to have in your travel tote. Just in case. You never know when you will be bored in a 12 hour flight.

6 | Agenda and a pen

I always bring my agenda with me on the plane because I can plan my days or make any notes that come in mind during the flight. Also, a pen comes in handy when it is time for you to fill out those custom forms. Nothing is more annoying that trying to hunt down a pen in an airplane.

7 |  Ipad

I always pack my ipad in my travel tote. Especially for long flights I like having instant access to it. I also have it in my travel tote for security reasons as well. Obviously your things are safe in your carry on as well, but I once got my iPad stolen from my carry on so ever sine that incident I always pack my  iPad with me at all times.

8 |   iPhone cord and Headphones

My Barrington St. Anne tote has three little compartments so I always place my iPhone charging cord in one of them along with any important USB keys and my headphones. Most airplanes now have USB outlets where you can plug in your cord, so if your cellphone  or your iPad needs to be recharged you can easily charge it by using them.

9 | Snacks

An in-flight essential you need to pack in your travel tote is snacks. I never travel without snacks, so naturally those are always placed in my travel tote because this girl is always hungry. For our trip to London I chose to pack some Krave beef jerky which I find delicious and the perfect snack when travelling.

10 | Tic Tacs

Some people choose to have gum in their travel tote, but my in flight essential are Tic Tacs. They are so incredibly addicting (hence the large package) but they are so easy to eat when you need to refresh your breath. Unlike a gum for which you have to worry what you will do with it when the flavour disappears, the Tic Tac will eventually dissolve in your mouth.

11 | Fleece Socks

Is it just me or airplanes are always freezing? The first thing I pack in my travel tote is fleece socks. to keep me warm. If you want to make your travel experience more pleasant then I definitely recommend you pack a pair of fleece socks in your travel tote. Especially when you are traveling in the summer and you are wearing sandals, packing those fleece socks is a must! My feet always get cold in the plane, but thanks to my fleece socks that problem is easily eliminated.

12 | Sleep Mask

I hardly use sleep masks but when it comes to traveling I absolutely adore them. A sleep mask is definitely an in flight essential you need especially if you find it hard to sleep in an airplane. If you would like complete darkness, a sleep mark is your saving grace.

Wasn't going to make the big reveal till my birthday, but you have all been sending me messages asking if I got it and which size I got, so I am ending the mystery today. Here it is in flesh the GG Marmont Matelassé Shoulder Bag in pepto bismal pink.

Gucci's GG Marmont bag is an instant upgrade to my daily outfits. Even when I am spotted in my slob chic outfits when I walk Margot, if I add this bag into the mix I take my outfit game to the next level. The bag takes the matelassé part of its name from the leather the bag is actually made of. Matelassé chevron leather. I didn't even know this was a type of leather. I just thought it was a fancy name they added as part of the bag's name. I love designer handbags, but I am the worst when it comes to remembering their names or what leather they are made out of for that matter.

The reason why I fell in love with this bag is because of its colour. Pepto bismol pink (what Kam referred the bag's colour as when I showed it to him) with antique gold toned hardware and an interlocking logo plaque; I was sold at our first glance. The double G is definitely what I call in your face logo galore, but the bag wouldn't be the same without it. I think what makes the bag is the large GG logo.

There are three sizes available in this design: mini, small and medium. Mine is the medium and the largest size this bag goes up to. Right now, the small size in this bag is sold out. The small size was the one I wanted, but I kinda don't mind the medium instead. I find it big, but not too big. I am able to fit comfortably all the items that I usually carry in my Kate Spade tote, except of course my agenda. I also love how I have the option to either wear the handbag as a crossbody or a shoulder bag. Having an adjustable chain strap is essential. Also, just as crucial is the fact that one strap of this handbag is leather and the other is a brass chain strap. If this bag only had a chain strap I would have most likely not purchased it. Chain straps, especially when it is a large handbag, kills your shoulders.

Verdict: To Purchase or Not

Yes! I absolutely love this bag. From the colour to the hardware, to the leather used to make the bag. It is definitely a yes bag. Most of my purses are made of lambskin leather and I have such a hard time taking care of them. The matelassé chevron leather seems like a piece of cake to take care of compared to my Balenciaga City bag which by the way is only a couple months old, but the leather has already aged so much. I am even inclined to say that I love the Gucci Marmont more than my Chanel purses. Ah I know, did I just really say that? But I just absolutely adore this bag. I definitely think the GG Marmont will be a classic piece. It mixes versatility with femininity, and even though it is a modern design there are elements of it that are timeless.
