Blush Tones For Spring

Coat: Zara | Blouse: H&M | Necklace: H&M | Handbag: Ralph Lauren | Hat: Winners | Jeans: 7 For All Mankind | Sneakers: Keds | Sunnies: Quay Australia |

Too many pretties happening in this blog post. Perfect weather, creative inspiration with the most colourful wall, impeccable duster coat design, and hello skinny white jeans. I am trending three new things in this blog post. Zara Blush duster coat, 7 for All Humanity white skinny jeans and last, but not least these amazing Keds from Winners. All come together to make the perfect spring outfit. I have been on haunt it seems for many things this year. White skinny jeans were one of those items. The problem with white skinny jeans is not that they get dirty really easy, but the fact that you have one imperfection on your body and bam the whole world can see it too. White skinny jeans do not camouflage imperfections if anything they extenuate imperfection. So finding the right pair is a long process, but alas I snagged a pair!

What are you lusting over this spring season?

On being 30 and Unmarried

Every little girl has dreams and hopes.
She enters the world thinking life is a fairytale filled with lyrical sounds, ideas to be put into action, dreams to be attained, unconditional love to be felt and a prince to put that little happy ending into play. But life is anything but a fairytale. You wake up one day and expectation after expectation is lined up all along our path. You place expectations on yourself to achieve and plan your life out as if you are living in a cookie cutter world. And then comes society with its unrealistic expectations that throws every girl  into the same pot regardless of her life story. An endless cycle is created where certain accomplishments in life need to be achieved by a certain age, and God forbid if by a certain age those goals are not achieved.

Enter turning 30, enter not being married.
I had a dream to be married before turning 30, I surely thought it would have happened a long time ago. I love weddings. I love weddings a lot. I used to be so eager to get married when I was younger, but as the years progress that eagerness has faded to the point where you develop a sense of indifference and you drift further and further from the idea that maybe you don't want to get married after all. Marriage becomes more of a need that society has placed upon you rather than a want of your own.

Let's be real. It does suck to be 30 and unmarried.
It sucks because society makes you feel as if you have failed as a person to make someone want to marry you. And it sucks because you start to question your own self. Is there something wrong with you? So why do you do this to yourself? It is unfortunate that there is a stigma that comes with being 30 and unmarried. Instead of asking yourself where did I go wrong, ask yourself where did our society go wrong to place such expectations on women? I've never heard a guy say "I’m 30 and single" but women, I hear them all the time. It's not even desperation, I would just call it a mere need to feel sought after. Expectations implanted into our minds, must do this must do that.

And then you have the married friends.
...that are always asking "So when are you guys getting married?", "It should happen soon, you guys have been together for so long"  I don’t know when I'm getting married, can I just eat my cupcake without being asked about my future wedding? It's like as soon as your friends get married they turn into marriage vultures lurking around and trying to find the right time to attack with the marriage questions. And then when you have no answer because you really don't know if and when it's going to happen, the pity sentence follows "Don’t worry I am sure it will happen soon", "He loves you, he must be thinking about it". Well, I was not worried until you made me worried with all your questioning and anticipation of me getting married. And then you fall into another trap where somehow now you are asking yourself "Is he thinking about it?" Or my all-time favourite is when you go away on a trip and your friends will always assume this is the time he will propose.  It MUST happen. Obviously, friends mean well, but they are in no way  helping the situation.

So what does this all mean?
As I turn 30 with a basket full of societal expectations placed at hand, I say to all of you and most importantly to myself that is unmarried, who cares? Put that biological clock aside, put expectations aside and just be content with your unmarried life. Does being 30 and unmarried make you less of a person? Or does it cancel out all the accomplishments you have realized by simply being your fabulous unmarried self?

My Birthday Wishlist: Items to Invest In

April is my birthday month and this is no April Fool's joke. The past couple of years, I have become more selective when it comes to shopping to avoid those "Eek what was I thinking moments". I am trying to curate a closet with more classic, slow fashion items that will not age in my closet as trends come and go. I try to stay away from fast fashion as much as I can, and if there is a trend I love, I will try to find a dupe instead of splurging.

Every year before my birthday month, I try to come up with a list of things I want to invest in, in the months to come. I find this always helps to keep things on track and not to deviate away from the items I want to invest in. One of my big purchases on my list for this birthday year was a designer handbag. Let's face it. Designer handbags are expensive, and when you have a million obligations in your daily life as well as person that loves to travel, saving for a designer handbag is sometimes unrealistic.

On my birthday wishlist this year:

1.  I have gone to 4 all-inclusive vacays so far, and these straw Mar y Sol bags are a must have. This year I am off to Greece and this will definitely come in handy while in the Greek isles.

2. The one item that I have already crossed off my wishlist this year is my Balenciaga handbag as seen in this post here. I've wanted a Balenciaga for quite a while now, but since the material tends to have a distressed look overtime, I was uncertain if this was something I wanted to invest in. I caved in though when I came across this blush beauty.

2. Prada Wallet: I am not 100% set on this wallet, but I definitely want a new one. My LV has run its course for sure. Not in terms of quality, but rather me not wanting to see it in my purse for a while.

3. Kate Spade Watch: I have a slight obsession with all things blush at the moment, and I love the handwritten time on this watch. I like watches because they are an item that withstands time (haha pun intended). A watch will never go out of style.

4. YSL Lipsticks: Time to pucker up those lips with some luscious lipsticks. I am a sucker for buying things for their pretty packaging and these YSL lipsticks are on my wishlist. I usually purchase the Makeup Forever lipsticks because compared to other ones they last the longest on my lips, but I definitely want to try out YSL lipsticks.

5. Crosley Cruiser Turntable: Reminiscing the good old days of when my dad had a pickup music player, I would love to add this Crosley to my home. Time to go back to some oldie goodies.

6. Camel Coloured Coat: Alright, winter is not quite over yet and even though I have tons of coats somehow I do not have a camel coloured coat. I would love for it to be a duster coat like this Missguided piece. So classy and versatile. A camel coloured coat is just as classy as a black one. Make sure to invest in one as well.

7. Leather Jacket: I am getting restless with looking for a leather jacket that looks good on me. I have been looking for 2 years now and nothing. I have the very unfortunate body structure of super broad shoulders but tiny waist. Sizing is just never right. Please, if you have any suggestions let me know!

8. Shoes: I have an abundance of flats, but I need to add more statement heels in my shoe collection. I am obsessed with these though. I mean, how can I not?

What's on your birthday wish list?
